1. Review how to use some Modal verbs to give advice or opinion about something.
2. Review the useful expressions
learnt in this unit by making sentences with them.
3. Let students know how to write recipes for their favourite dishes by
reading “SNACKS” and two examples of recipes.
Teaching Important Points:
1.How to master Modal verbs-had better (not), should (not), ought (not)to.
2.How to let the students understand the text “SNACKS” better and learn to write a recipe.
Teaching Difficult Point:
How to improve the students’ integrating skills.

1. Asking-and–answering activity to go through the
reading material.
2. Individual, pair or group work to make every student work in class.

Teaching Procedures:
Step I: Greeting
T: This is our last class of unit 1 “Healthy eating”. In this class, we’ll start with
revision of something taught before. Then we’re going to learn new lesson –Integrating skills & Writing. Finally if there is time to go , let’s do some exercise on the screen.
Step II: Revision
T: Ok , In the last period , we
learnt the grammar – Model verbs. What are they ?
S1: had better , should and ought to
T: What about their
negative forms?
S2: had better not , shouldn’t and oughtn’t to
T: Who’d like to tell us their basic usages?
S3: When we give advice or our opinions about something ,we can use “ had better or had better not”.
S4: When we are
trying to
advise someone about what to do or what not to do , we can use “ should , shouldn’t , ought to and oughtn’t to.”
T: Quite good. Ok, let’s do some exercises on the screen. When you know the answers , please stand up quickly. Let’s see who acts fastest.

healthy food is good for your healthy, especially when you’re growing up. So we should develop
healthy eating habits.
Step III: Presentation
T: From the text “ we’re what we eat”, we know stores offer all kinds of food and snacks and we have to make many choices. When we choose what to buy and eat, we’d better think whether the food will give us the nutrients we need. Who knows by what we can give our body and brain more energy?
Step IV: Listening
T: Please listen and choose the best answer.
