1、教学目的:使学生比较全面了解The Olympic Games,掌握重要的词汇及语言点。并通过相关的学习活动,进一步提高学生英语阅读能力。
2、教学重点:提高学生的阅读能力。
3、教学难点:如何抓住段落中心内容理解文章,及使用有用的词组。
4、教学手段:使用PowerPoint制作的教学课件
5、教学特点:运用现代教育技术手段,扩大课容量,丰富学生视野,设计多种不同教学活动以突破重难点,复习巩固所学知识,并开创学生思维。
6、具体内容和步骤:
课前热身:播放FLASH奥运会歌《传递圣火》

(1)由近期校运会导入话题,引导学生讨论:
Is it important to win in a sports match?Why or why not?
(2)通过大量图片,让学生了解各种运动项目,并引导学生讨论:
Which sport event(s) do you like to watch most?Why?
Step3.Leading-in
呈现奥运会图片导入课文The Olympic Games
呈现奥运会旗图片,引导学生讨论五环及其代表的意义:
What’re the colors of the Olympic five rings? Which continent does each ring stand for?
Why are the five rings joined together?
Step 4. Reading

出示问题,学生快速阅读文章查找答案:

逐一呈现课文提到的五次奥运会的一些相关图片,引导学生进行进一步阅读,查找相关的信息,并插以重要词汇讲练。
① the ancient Olympic Games 回答 When / where / what sports / who的问题,然后通过词的链接跳转学习重要词the same as、 compete、 take part in的用法,并加于练习来巩固。
② the first Olympic Games in modern times 回答When / where / how many的问题,同时了解the modern Olympics 回答How often / what sports / who的问题,然后通过词的链接跳转学习every 的相关用法,并加于练习来巩固。
③ the 1984 Olympic Games 回答When / where / who/how的问题。
④ the 2000 Olympic Games 回答When / where / how many的问题,而后谈中国队在此次奥运会上的出色表现。且继此次创历史性胜利后中国又赢来又一次胜利,呈现中国人欢欣鼓舞的画面,引导学生思考:What’s the competition which is not for a medal?
⑤ the 2008 Olympic Games 回答when / where / what changes的问题,利用词语sports venues的链接让学生欣赏2008年中国奥运场馆的美图,激发他们对奥运会的向往,以及为后面讨论奥运会带来的负面影响-浪费做铺垫。
