Unit Four How do you go to school?
一、Analysis of the Teaching Material:
本单元是新目标英语《Go for it》八年级第一学期内容。本单元讨论的话题是交通运输方面的,是非常具有实用性的内容。学好本课,学生不但能够加深对一般现在时态的理解和运用,也可以用英语来和别人讨论到达某地的最佳方式。
二、Analysis of the Students:
对于出二第一学期的学生来说,他们在经过初一一年的英语学习后,已具有了相当的英语基础,同时也具备一些运用的语言知识的能力。在这样的基础上,学生对于讨论跟他们生活息息相关的行的相关内容一概很容易产生兴趣,老师应在这一教学过程中教育学生要自觉遵守交通法规。
三、Design the principle:
新目标英语强调的是任务型教学,强调学生要成为教学活动的主体,而老师只是从中起到协调引导作用,因此在我的教学设计里,比较重视学生活动。充分调动起学生的积极性,让他们成为学习的主动者。本节课是本单元的第一课时,主要让学生掌握交通工具和基本句型“How do you……?”

九、Teaching Procedures:
Step One: Greet the class as usual.(Talk about the weather. Use Present tense and Past tense. )
T: How’s the weather today?
S: It is….(强化交际能力,检查复习学过知识)
Step Two:Presentation
T: How is the weather? S: It is rainy/windy.
T: On rainy/windy days, it is now easy to walk/ride a bike.
We can take the car ,bus….
Step Three: Guessing
Have Ss listen and guess what transportation it is. Then ask students to try to read these words.
bike, train, subway, car, ship, boat, bus, airplane and so on.
Maybe there is only one new word for students---subway, so the teacher only correct the pronunciation of these words.
(简单的单词游戏既调动了学生的学习积极性又强化了单词记忆。)
Step Four: Presentation
Show a picture of a bike. Then teacher says, “ I usually rike a bike to school. How do you get to school?”Help them to answer , “I …..”
Step Five: Work on 1a
Write the ways to go to school
Step Six: Pair work
Have Ss into pairs by using the patterns:
“How do you get to school?
“I …..” After One pair, teacher goes on to ask the other Ss “How does he/she get to school?”
Step Seven: Work on 1b
Ask students to look at the picture in their books. Fill in the blanks
The teacher give the correct answers on the screen.
Step Eight: Presentation
T: How does John go to school. S:He rides a bike.
T: Why? It is far from his home to school.
T: How far is it from his home to school?
Step Nine: Work on 2a
Step Ten : Pair work How far is it from his home to school?
It is …miles.
Step Eleven: Work on 2b
Step Twelve: Presentation
How far is it from A to B?
It is …miles.
How long does it take? It takes…minutes .
Step Thirteen: Pair work
Step Fourteen :Make a survey
Period 2
Step 1. Revision
Review the patterns “ How do you get to school? How long does it take? How far is it from his home to school? by asking and answering .
Step 2. Work on 3b
The first two pictures ,we use “do”
A: How do you get to school? B: I take the subway. A: How far is it from your home to school? B:It’s three miles. A: How long does it take you to get from home to school ? B: It takes 25 minutes.
lThe last ones, we use “does”
Step 3. Work on 3a
Have Ss listen and answer the three questions. Then listen again. Have Ss repeat.
Step 4. Presentation
We have known how they get to school. What about maria ,John and Lupei?
Step 5. Work on 4 Into gop race
