spoken English. Tell students that the forms more good, most good, more bad, and most bad are never used.
3b This activity provides oral practice using the target language.
Read the instructions. Point out the
sample conversation ask two students to read it to the class.
Ask students to say the names of stores in your town and write the names on the board.
Ask students to work with partners as they talk about the stores and fill in the chart.
Ask the two or three pairs of students who finish first to put their charts on the board. Then compare the charts. Do the students agree about which store has the best service and the best quality?
4 This activity provides
speaking practice using the target language.
Ask the class for the names of three places to have lunch near the school and write them on the board. Go through each of the categories on the left with the class, eliciting answers for one of the restaurants.
Divide the class into small groups. Ask them to choose three restaurants and fill in the chart. Tell them they have ten minutes for
everyone in the group to decide on one
restaurant to go to for lunch.
Walk around the class
offering language support where necessary. Make a note of common errors with comparatives and superlatives and write them on the board.
At the end of the activity, ask the groups which
restaurant they
decided on. Why did they decide on that restaurant?
Write the list of common errors on the board and elicit where the mistakes are and how to correct them.
