Grammar Focus
Review the grammar box. Ask students to read the questions and answers.
Write the first two sentences on the board using colored chalk to highlight the verbs like this:
Did you go to the zoo?
No, I didn't. I went to the aquarium.
Did you see any seals?
Yes, I saw some seals.
Point out that these questions use did plus the verb without any endings. The answer uses a special form of the verb. It is spelled quite
differently from the name of the verb.
Ask students to name some other verbs that work the same way. They may say: buy/bought, have/had, take/took, get/got or meet/met. Ask the students to make up questions and answers using these verbs.
Grammar note
You may wish to have students write some of these pairs of past and present forms in the Vocab-builder for this unit. You can ask the students which ones they think are most important and write these pairs of words on the board for the class to copy.
