adv. not much e.g. She goes out very little.
n. not much, a little amount e.g. Tom knows little about China.
Notes: a. little用在不可数名词前,few用在可数名词前;
b. little 的反义词是 much;
c. little含有“少到几乎没有”,几乎等于no, a little 则含有肯定的意思,表示“有一点”。
d. little 含有“可爱的”意思; e.g. a little hero
比较:He knows a little English.
He knows little English.
