YY: Xin Tao, what are you reading?
XT: I'm reading a magazine, "Chinese Cuisine"
YY: What made you look into Chinese cuisine?
XT: I invited an American friend over to my place this weekend. I want to treat her to some traditional Chinese cuisine, so I have to do some leg work.
YY: Oh, so that's why! And how many dishes have you picked?
XT: So far, I have only selected Ma Po tofu and Kung Pao chicken. Any suggestions?
YY: Jiaozi and Peking duck should be the most famous among all Chinese food, right?
XT: Jiaozi is a pretty good choice. As for Peking duck....I can't make that even if I became a thousand-armed Guanyin!
YY: You're right. Then maybe it's better that you prepare some of the more simple home-cooked dishes such as braised pork and lotus root with spare ribs soup.
XT: Sounds reasonable! Look, this is a draft of my menu: Ma Po tofu, Kung Pao chicken, braised pork, and lotus root with spare ribs soup.
YY: Your friend will get to satisfy her tastebuds.
XT: I have to practice in advance. I must be sure not to screw up and bring disgrace to Chinese food.
YY: Practice an extra few times and when you do, don't forget to get me to come over and have a taste. I'll give you some suggestions.
XT: So it turns out that you want to freeload!
