五十步笑百步
Wǔshí Bù Xiào Bǎi Bù 

       古时候，在战场上，两军对阵。战鼓一响，双方的士兵就刀对刀，枪对枪地打起来。经过一场激烈的拼杀后，战败一方的士兵丢弃了盔甲，拖着武器就逃跑。有的士兵跑了五十步后停下来，有的跑了一百步后才停下来。这时，跑了五十步的人认为自己没跑那么远，就讥笑跑了一百步的人胆小怕死。

In ancient times, on the battlefield, two armies fought against each other. At the sounding of the drum, soldiers of the two sides began to fight with knives and spears. After a fierce fight, the losing soldiers would throw down their armor and run away with their weapons. Some soldiers stopped after fifty paces and some soldiers stopped after a hundred paces. Those retreating fifty paces thought that they had not run away so very far and began to laugh at the cowardliness of those who had retreated one hundred paces.

意义：

五十步笑百步：战败后，逃跑了五十步的人讥笑逃跑了一百步的人。比喻自己跟别人有同样的缺点或犯了同样的错误，只是程度上轻一些，却毫无自知之明地去讥笑别人。

After defeated, one retreats fifty paces mocks one retreats a hundred paces. It means that one is laughing at someone else for a mistake or error which he himself is also guilty of, with the only difference being one of degree, not kind. It is used to accuse those people who are guilty of the very thing they are pointing out.
