      周末，爸爸带儿子去公园玩，在路上遇到儿子同桌的妈妈。她摸着儿子的头夸奖说："你儿子又听话学习又好，你真有福气！"爸爸客气地回答："哪里，你家孩子表现得更好！"
      双方客套了几句就告别了。看到同桌的妈妈走远了，儿子很不高兴地说："爸爸，又不是夸你，你谦虚什么呢？"

At the weekend, the father was taking his son to the park. On the way, they came across the mother of one of the son's classmates. She touched the son's head and said to his father, "You have such a good son. He is both obedient and hardworking. What a lucky father you are!" The father replied politely, "Oh, it's nothing. Your son behaves much better than him!"

They said good-bye to each other after exchanging a few civilities. Seeing his classmate's mother walking away, the son said unhappily, "Dad, she is not praising you. Why are you so modest?!"

1、"又"可以表示几种情况或者特性同时存在，通常可以连在一起形成"又......又......"结构，连接两个性质相同的成分。如：
"又(yòu)" is used to express several concurrent conditions or features, which can be put successively in the pattern "又......又......" to join two words or phrases of the same type.

他的工作总是做得又快又好。
Tā de gōngzuò zǒngshì zuò de yòu kuài yòu hǎo.
He is always working fast and well.

这种饼干又香又脆，我一直都很喜欢。
Zhè zhǒng bǐnggān yòu xiāng yòu cuì, wǒ yìzhí dōu hěn xǐhuan.
This kind of biscuit is crisp and tastes good, so I like it all the time.

此外，"又"还可以用在反问句或者否定句里，以加强语气。如：
In addition, "又(yòu)" can be used in a rhetorical question or a negativesentence for emphasis.

爸爸，又不是夸你，你谦虚什么呢？
Bàba, yòu bú shì kuā nǐ, nǐ qiānxū shénme ne？
Dad, she is not praising you anyway. Why are you so modest?

没关系，我又不是客人，不用总是陪我。
Méi guānxi, wǒ yòu bú shì kèrén, búyòng zǒngshì péi wǒ.
Never mind. I am not your guest, so you don't have to tend me all the time.

2、中国的父母见面，孩子通常都是谈论的主要话题。即使自己的孩子表现真的很好，家长内心非常满意，一般也都会表现得很谦虚，不把这种满意表现出来，以显示谦虚和礼貌。
When the Chinese parents meet, the kids are always the topic of their conversation. Even when their children do quite well in every aspect, they generally would not express their satisfaction but would appear as modest as possible to show the politeness.
