Go to a fair means to trade with others on a particular date of a month, such as 5th, or 15th of the month in the lunar calendar. It is still the tradition at towns and villages in China, and also a playful activity for children.
On the road to a fair, the crowd is really unusual. Some drive tractors, some ride motorbikes, some walk with cows and sheep... A number of adults and children come in flock to the market, several times more than a usual day. All of them look so happy! What a bustling and rustling scene!
The market is even more swarmed with people. A few hawking can be heard from time to time. All kinds of goods are placed one after another along the whole street. The various colors on the stands make people dazzled. Even the air is misted with the tempting smell of fried dough sticks, pancakes and dumplings. The vendors is trying to solicit customers, while the buyers are looking around, comparing and tying to select the goods they like.
The market is divided into five sections: clothes, fruits and vegetables, snacks, plants, and cattle. On the stands in the fruit and vegetable section, you will see fresh cucumbers with lovely yellow flowers and still have prickles on them, greenish tomatoes, lantern-like small hot peppers, chubby white gourds, and snake gourds, cucurbits, celeries, leeks... Everything you can expect to find. Let us have a look at fruit stands: yellow pears, red apples, juicy strawberries, bananas, oranges, pineapples.... The sounds of bargaining come into ears continually. Fresh fruits and vegetables are then loaded into people's baskets.
Every time people will come to a market with high expectation and return home full of satisfaction. They are all looking forward to the next time of going to a fair.
