第一次听这首歌时,新加坡方面的上映档期刚定,大约是去年11月初,网上仅有YouTube上的一段官方刚刚放上来的歌词版MV。没看过的同学可以再感受一下这个版本:
当时意志非常坚定,忍住没看剧透,而是先听了一下这首歌。当时的感觉就是,有人想在一片混沌之中努力地去找寻一样东西——我明明知道我要的是什么,却偏偏看不清很多东西,而最看不清的那个,又偏偏就是自己。命运中的冰火交融,一波未平,一波又起;一行行的歌词像烟蒂一样飘落,瞬间又消失殆尽。我突然发现我在这MV中找不到邦德了,或者说,邦德找不到自己了。
你不妨以邦德的视角看这段MV。邦德走遍了全世界,终于要走进自己从未涉足过的荒原了。但周围雾太大,水太深,火太猛,冰太寒——他条件反射般地如同对付敌人一般地武装自己,兵来将挡,水来土掩,一切顺理成章,子弹出膛的速度永远和脑子运转的速度一样快。但这些又有什么用呢?在一个虚构出来的世界里,这些都是你的假想敌。对于邦德来说,哪怕在一个真实的世界里,面对真实存在的敌人,这些同样也是假想敌——他们像烟雾一样,无法一举击溃,而无法一举击溃的原因在于,你的敌人并不是他们。真正的敌人,是可以,也必须被击溃的那个。
于是我隐隐约约有点猜到,邦德内心里一些的很隐秘的东西已经开始崩塌,具体是什么讲不出来,直到我看了电影前面的那段MV。
先从歌曲角度说说《SKYFALL》这首歌的一些特点吧。
音乐性方面,Adele处理细节的方式耐人寻味:
开场以一声低沉的长长号声而起,一旦这样的声音响起,大家都会感到,有好戏要开始了。号声带出了一段钢琴,平平的和弦上,若隐若现的旋律轻轻游走。之后Adele的声音出现,浅回慢吟,低声诉说,让人想起Someone Like You中,同样的纯钢琴伴奏。这就像指环王一开头,精灵女王讲述远古往事,淡然自若却又能引出史诗的壮阔。
第二段主歌,伴随钢琴音,出现了电吉他的弹拨,小调之中落下一个个半音,一丝诡异气息出现,似乎有什么在暗处悄悄酝酿。随着终音的突然拔高,天幕开始坠落。此时在音场左侧加入提琴、在右侧加入长号,背景立即丰满起来,支撑起大跨度的副歌,初步具有一定的气势。
下一段主歌,承接提琴和长号,并以更低沉的号声与更高调的小提琴进一步拓宽音域范围,然后提琴不断渐强、群起激昂,一下拔起气势,第一次真正进入高潮。 立即丰满起来,支撑起大跨度的副歌,初步具有一定的气势。
然后我们熟悉的元素又出现了:人声伴唱。正如在Rolling in the Deep中低音部不断重复的人声,此处的人声与Adele的主音交替出现,在延长的高音之后短促地重复,赋予歌声以层次和立体感;而旋律与Rolling 亦相通,通过较低音的回环与高音的延长的对比,获得听感上的反差,协同人声一起给听者强烈的震撼。
而没有多久出现了转变,声音收住弱了下来,提琴与人声迅速退却,被低沉而时有突出的号声取代,Adele的声音也弱化,变得轻盈迷离,悄悄出现又一挥而散,还似有若隐若现的一缕呜呜声飘拂,就像Frodo意识模糊时精灵女王带着光辉而虚化的浮影。
走过桥段,气势再次一点点聚集,随尾音的假声升腾,重回高潮。副歌之后,提琴与铜管乐器继续演奏,筑起一道虹桥,通向Adele最后的咏叹,与Set Fire to the Rain的结尾无二致,豪迈有力地延长,振奋人心地上行,在最高峰与管弦乐队一齐终止,收一个华彩之尾,最终一声与开头相同的长号,完成全曲的合。
国外一些乐评甚至给出了five out of five stars的好评。当然,除了演绎方面一些细节的处理,歌曲本身恢弘的气势也少不了其背后多达77人的管弦乐队的参与。
Adele's vocal performance here is perfectly balanced between bombast and nuance. From the opening of the first verse there is a thrilling combination of power and slight fragility indicated in a delicate vibrato. As the chorus kicks in Adele sounds as if she has lived through a thousand tragedies but is ready to face the ultimate end with power and strength. Very few current pop singers truly have the lungs to compete with the rich orchestration of "Skyfall," and Adele glides through the song with ease.

2. True to the James Bond franchise
不知道大家有没有听出来,整首歌下来,其实Monty Norman自《Dr.No》开始经久不衰的James Bond Theme经典音乐(枪口那段)一直作为背景和弦贯穿始终。这也是Skyfall这首歌最令人眼前一亮之处。
Adele第一次操刀为影视剧经典写歌,便能这样完美地向经典致敬,也要感谢她的制作人Paul Epworth:In discussing the composition of the song, Paul Epworth described the inclusion of Monty Norman's "James Bond theme" in the harmonies and chord progression as a conscious decision.
Epworth stated that the producers request was for "a dramaticballad basically," so he and Adele tried to "do something that was simultaneously dark and final, like a funeral, and to try and turn it into something that was not final. A sense of death and rebirth." Epworth watched the first thirteen Bond films seeking the "musical code" of the songs ("I think it's a minor ninth as the harmonic code... the Bond songs, they have that elaboration to it") and wrote what would become the instrumental part of "Skyfall".
除此以外,歌曲中多处也向之前的经典邦德歌曲致敬,然而演绎方式又十分的"Adele":

The Scottish Daily Record named it ('skyfall') 'single of the week' and said it was the best Bond theme tune since Tina Turner's 1995 song GoldenEye. "Skyfall has the sultry swagger of Shirley Bassey's Diamonds are Forever or Goldfinger, but with all of Adele's ache and longing," it added.
Adele's song is of a piece with U2's take, aiming for the same slinky gravitas as the all-time Bond themes, which you can't even talk about without a nod to the all-time Bond gal: Shirley Bassey. The brassy Welsh belter is the only artist to record more than one Bond tune, nailing it all three times with her incomparable songs for "Goldfinger," "Diamond Are Forever" and "Moonraker."
It's no small feat that, in a pantheon that includes "Goldfinger," "You Only Live Twiceen.wikipedia.org/wiki," "Diamonds are Forever," and "Live and Let Dieen.wikipedia.org/wiki," Adele's "Skyfall" holds its own.

被水淹没,是被M那句"Take the bloody shot"所震惊带来的伤害。
被火吞没,是Skyfall大宅毁之一炬时内心深藏的记忆被彻底捣烂。
Adele 抓住了这部片子一直想探索的主题:一个人,他首先是个人,才是一个特工,一个爱国者。至于"At the Skyfall, when it crumbles, we will stand tall and face it all"中,所要"面对"的是什么——我想大概就是这些了。50年了,邦德需要击溃的,是那个早就溃不成军的藏在身体里的古老的英国军魂。我说的荒原,是他从不打算开采的内心,不给别人看,也不给自己看。这一次,邦德必须击溃的,是那个早就该倒下一万次、早就该年老体衰的自己。
