Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) new iPad will soon see the light of day.

The Cupertino, Calif., company Tuesday invited reporters to a March 7 media event expected to mark the unveiling of its latest iPad tablet in San Francisco.

The email featured what appeared to be a photograph of the corner of an iPad with a few logos and the tagline: 'We have something you really have to see. And touch.'

The Wall Street Journal and other news outlets had previously reported that the announcement of a new tablet was expected in early March. The device is expected to have a sharper-resolution screen than the second-generation iPads along with support for wireless carriers' fourth-generation LTE networks.
