Due to the illegal payments to police officers by journalists and the hacking of an estimated 4,000 mobile phones, the News of the World left last night, signing off after 168 years with the headline: "Thank You & Goodbye".
Chief Editor Colin Myler said: "As a final tribute to seven-and-a-half million readers, this is for you - and for the staff."
Some five million copies of the paper were released, which was doubling its print.
The profits from the edition will go to charity.
The signing off made more than 200 members of staff leave their desks and face an uncertain future

报纸停刊使得200多名工作人员不得不离开自己的岗位,去面对变数重重的未来。
