While Opposition is trying to arrive at a joint government, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is reinstating the importance of United States through the media.
The Pakistan People's Party and PML-N are working out a coalition government as the US continues its pressure to keep Musharraf in the saddle.
But a day after PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan will not bow to US pressure, Musharraf has stressed on Pakistan's need for American support in an article in the Washington Post.
Pakistan needs America was the headline followed by a subhead Musharraf to Washington Post.
''Our success will require continued support of the United States. I would ask Americans to remember that building democracy is difficult in a country like Pakistan,'' he wrote.
Stressing on the alliance he wrote, ''We will continue to work closely with our long-time American allies in our common struggle to rid Pakistan and the world of militant extremism.''
