Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (2nd R) and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (2nd L) attend a press conference after meeting at Yingxiu town of Wenchuan County, quake-hit southwest China's Sichuan Province, May 24, 2008. Wen Jiabao met with Ban Ki-moon in Yingxiu on Saturday.

Speaking at an open area, Wen urged reporters to record the real situations to memorize the dead and console the survivors.

"Let the world people remember the devastating earthquake, remember the life losses, and remember the brave fight of the people in the quake-hit regions and nationwide against the disaster," he said.

Ban Ki-moon arrived in Chengdu, capital city of quake-stricken Sichuan Province, Saturday morning and later visited the Yingxiu Town of Wenchuan County, one of the worst-hit areas in the massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12.

Ban Ki-moon promised on Saturday to mobilize efforts from the United Nations to support China's quake relief and post-quake reconstruction.

Ban said Chinese leaders have shown outstandingleadership in quake relief, and the United Nations will firmly support China's relief and reconstruction endeavors.

The UN chief said the United Nations and people all over the world will stand along with the Chinese people and work together to overcome the earthquake disaster.

He wished Chinese people a victory in quake relief.

Ban made the remarks in an open area Saturday noon shortly after his arrival at Yingxiu town of Wenchuan County, epicenter of the May 12 earthquake, to express his sympathy for those who suffered from the devastating quake.

Ban won loud applause from the people standing around.
