The founder and general manager of the Hong Kong-based Pure Heart China Growth Investment Fund will be the second Chinese to dine with Buffett following Duan Yongping, who pocketed the bid with 620,100 U.S. dollars in 2006. This year's auction was held on June 22-27 with the floor price of 25,000 dollars.
Lunch with Buffett is an annual charityauction that began in 2000. The auction proceeds will go to the Glide Foundation, a non-profit group in San Francisco that helps the poor and homeless. Top bidders get a chance to dine with Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which owns subsidiaries in almost every industry, including insurance, clothing, jewelry and restaurants.
Zhao will dine with Buffett at Smith & Wollensky restaurant in New York. Zhao can invite seven friends to go with him. Buffett is expected to answer all their questions except inquires about the investments that involve Zhao.
