BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 37 world records had been broken at the Beijing Olympic Games by August 21, organizers said on Friday.
Liu Wenbin,
deputy director of Sports Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG), said at a press conference at the Main Press Center that by August 21, the Olympics had seen 37 world records and 77 Olympic marks shattered.
Liu said 80 delegations had made it to the medal standings and amomg them, 50 had struck gold.
Li added 237 golds, 238 silvers and 273 bronzes had been awarded.
Anti-doping is also going
smoothly during the Games, said International Olympic Committee spokeswoman Giselle Davies at the same conference.
Davis announced that 4,620 doping tests had been done, of which 3,681 were urine tests and 939 were blood.
Wang Wei, executive vice president and secretary general of BOCOG, said up to this Friday, 408,271 tickets for the Paralympics had been sold, with 30,418 tickets sold on Thursday alone.
