ISLAMABAD, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- An explosion occurred in northwestern Pakistan's Peshawar city on Friday and at least 12 people were killed, private TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.
The blast took place in the Kocha Risaldar area of Peshawar, capital city of North West Frontier Province, said the report.
As a result, at least 12 people were killed and 45 others were injured. Some houses and shops adjacent to the blast site were also damaged as a huge quantity of explosives were used in the explosion.
There is no official confirmation about the casualty figure.
A rescue team and ambulances have reached the site of the blast and are transferring the injured to local hospitals.
Kocha Risaldar is a heavily populated area where some mosques were located.
