ANTANANARIVO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A French man was reportedly arrested on Thursday by the police for suspected sexual tourism as in Nosy Be, a tourist spot over 1000 kilometers northwest of here, local media reported on Saturday.

The unidentified French tourist was placed in custody following a call to the police by a local girl, who said the man had committed wrong doings at hotel, Les Nouvelles, a French-language daily, reported on Saturday.

The girl called the police because the man refused to pay the amount they had agreed on, the report said

During his visit to the island earlier this month, Madagascan President Marc Ravalomanan ordered to arrest any one who undertooksexual tourism anywhere in his country.

With a population of some 60,000, Nosy-be, 8 kilometers off the northwest coast of Madagascar, is one of most famous touristdestination for Westerners.
