Unit1.
Hello, eveyone. I'm very glad to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My speech is made up of 3 parts.
Part 1. My understanding of this lesson:
(一)The analysis of the teaching material:
This lesson is reading passage. It plays a very important part in the English teaching of this unit. By reading this passage, students can improve their reading skills and receive some moral education.
(二)Teaching key points and special difficulties
1. By reading this passage, students can learn from Jane Goodall at least two aspects.
2. Ask students to answer these questions:
(1) What make her a great success?
(2) What should we learm from Jane Goodall?
3. Let everyone believe that all of us can become Jane Goodall.
(三)Teaching goals
1. Learn Warming Up, and know how to tell the great women and the famous women.
2. Learn the way to describe a person from what the person did, what she/he looks like and so on.
(四)Something about students
1.By learning Book1.Unit5( Nelson Mandela- a modern hero), students have some understanding about the standard of great man and how to tell great men and importand men.
2.They are lack of vocabulary.
3.They don't often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.
4.Some students are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes.
Part 2. My teaching theories, methods and aids
1. Make the students the real masters in the class, while the teacher acts as director.
2. To make students active in Engish teaching, my design for teaching is based on Task-based Language Teaching.
3. Let the students receive some moral education while they're learning the English lesson.
4. Apart from the normal teaching tools, I'll make full use of multimedia.
Part 3. Teaching steps
Step1. Lead-in
Show the whole class the list of world 100 greatest people.
Questions:1.Why they are regarded as the greatest people?
2.What qualities do they have?
3.Do you think the list of greatest people a fair one?
4.According to the list, do you think that men have been making greater achievements
than women?
Discussion: W hich of these women listed in the book they think is a great women and give their
reason..
Purpose: Arouse the students' interest of thinking; Bring in new subject.
Step2. Reading
Task1. Fast-reading
Read the passage as quickly as they can. Let them get the main idea of each paragraph.
Task2. Careful-reading
1. Read the text paragraph by paragraph and summary the things she did.
2. True or false exercise.
Purpose:Train the students' listening and reading ability.
Task3.Comprehending
Do the Exercise 1&2 on page 3.
Purpose: Further understand the text.
Step3. Discussion
1. What made her a great success?
2. What should we learn from Jane Goodall?
Step4. Language points
1.Watching a family of chimps wake up is our.....

动名词作主语
主语是由不定式、动名词、从句构成的,谓语动词采用单数。
Working with you is pleasant.
Seeing is believing.
2. Jane spent many years observing and recording their daily activities.
...spend + ...time (in) doing
We spent a pleasant hour or two talking with friends.
He's spent half his life writing this book.
He has spent three years in prison.
Purposre : Train the students' ability of understanding and using language.
Step5. Consolidation
Do the some exercise on the screen.
Step6. Homework.
Write a passage about a person who you admire and make sure give the reason why you admire he/she.
Purpose: Train students' writing ability.
