(CRIENGLISH2008-06-08 09:57:44)Hong Kong's famous director John Woo debut the promotional trailer and official poster for his historical war epic "The War of the Red Cliff" on Saturday.

The cast including Hu Jun, Zhang Fengyi, Hou Yong and the Oscar-winning art director and designer Timmy Yip attended the ceremony held in Beijing.

The epic film, which will premiere on July 10, is inspired by the real combat during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 BC), when China had three rulers.

Woo told reporters that he had dreamed for years to produce a movie about the historical battle that broke out in Chibi, now in central Hubei province, with the Shu-Wu coalition repelling the mighty Wei forces.

Woo joked that the movie, having taken eight months to shoot, was as important as his wife.
