(CCTV 06-20-2008 17:24) The Olympic torch relay will continue in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday.
The city has been decorated with various Olympic banners and slogans. Saturday's relay will start from Norbu Linka, and at Potala Square, the Olympic torch will meet the flame that was lit on Mt. Qomolangma on May 8th.
Lhasa has a history of more than 1300 years, and is the political, economic, cultural and transport center of Tibet. The Tibetan ethnic group makes up 87 percent of the city's total population. Lhasa stands at an altitude of around 3600 meters above sea level.
