A man, carrying his kid in arms, watches the photo of Hu Jintao meeting with KMT chairman Wu Poh-hsiung in May at the KMT headquarters building in Taipei.

(CRI2008-07-04 18:52:00)--Photos of CPC leader Hu Jintao meeting with Kuomintang party leaders have been put on display in the hall on the first floor of Kuomintang headquarters in Taipei, the Taiwan-based United Evening News reported Friday.

This is the first time the pictures of a top CPC leader have ever appeared in the building of KMT Central Committee for over half a century.

In anticipation of mainlandtourists arriving in Taiwan on Friday, the KMT redecorated two walls of the hall on the first floor of the building, replacing the pictures commemorating the 113th anniversary of KMT with the photos of Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Now visitors stepping into the hall will notice the huge photo of Hu Jintao meeting with KMT chairman Wu Poh-hsiung in May, as well as other historic cross-Straits exchanges since Hu's meeting with KMT honorary chairman Lien Chan in 2005.

The new KMT headquarters, after its relocation, is smaller and the decoration is less sumptuous. However, it is still attractive to some visitors from the Chinese Mainland. The historical documents preserved in the KMT's museum are a must-see for mainland travelers.

Chairman of KMT's Culture and Communications Committee Lee Chien-jung noted that the KMT made special efforts to redecorate the walls in the hall to welcome guests from the Chinese mainland.

On the walls of the left side, are pictures from the "ice-breaking" meeting between Hu Jintao and Lien Chan in 2005 to the resumed meeting between mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) in June this year. On the walls of the right side are pictures of the process in which the KMT won the election of the legislature and the leadership of Taiwan.

KMT's top level said, this rearrangement of exhibition of pictures has the theme of "Cross-strait Exchanges". Lien Chan and Wu Poh-hsiung will have a banquet with the members of the first tourist group from the mainland on Saturday, but have no plan so far to invite them to visit the KMT headquarters.
