This is an interesting topic for us to discuss, because we are/will be in some circumstances which need our skills and experiences on
dealing with our supervisors. A smart
subordinate will always know how to please his supervisor/supervisors. Of course, his reward is either
promotion or something equals to money.
I'm not a boots licker, nor do I like to flatter my supervisors. But I am smart enough to make myself behave and look like a real smart and talented person. One of my boss has declared before that no one was
indispensable except Danny(My English name) in his company. As a matter of fact, most of the supervisors like to say: No one is
indispensable in a company. The purpose of
saying that is simple, to peel off the
subordinates' prides and minds of stabilities.
In order to be a solid, strong, talented employee in a company, you need to have at least the following three main factors to protect your ass(make yourself safe in the company).
1) You must have at least one specialty. It could be your working experiences, your language skills, your customer base or family background.... Make sure you don't tell your boss that your major of university is a great advantage, cause nobody really cares nowadays. The newly university graduates are another issue.
2) You must work hard and smart. I don't wanna waste my time highlighting this point, because everybody knows about the importance of working hard and smart. It's kind of a attitude issue. Without this, you won't be able to survive in any company, except that your super daddy is the boss.
3) You must know something about
psychology. Well, it's a complicated issue, cause you will need some time to figure out what you should learn from the
psychology studies. What I'm
trying to say here is you need to know what your boss/supervisors are thinking inside. It would be great for you if you know/understand what your boss is/will think about before you take the actions on something. My ex-sales
manger, Michael Foo, told me to be street-smart. I will leave it for you guys. Tell me, what is Street-smart?
Last but not least, you must be a good observer! Keep your eyes sharp, take the
positive and meaningful actions before your boss asks you to do/thinks you would do. If you have all the above with you, I know you're going to be somebody in the near future.
Good Luck, guys!
