Step 2. Revision
Show the pictures on the screen, and ask students to make conversations according to the pictures.
A: Can you go shopping with me?
B: Sorry. I have to help my mom do housework.
Step 3 3a
Show the picture of the
invitation on the screen. Tell students it’s a birthday invitation. Lisa is having a birthday party.
Now let students look at the dialogue. Ask students to fill in the blanks using the
invitation for invitation.
Ask students to work. Move around the room answering questions as needed.
Check the answers.
Step 4 Pairwork (3b)
Practice the conversation in 3a. Then fill in the card with details of a
event. Then call your classmate to invite him or her to the event. Then
call your classmates to invite him or her to the class.
Move around the classroom to give any necessary help.
Get several pairs to act in class.
Step 5. Invite a friend
First read the instructions for this activity to the students. Tell the
class how to do the activity. For example:
Tony, you are Eliza. Look at this page.
George, you are Lu Qing. Look at the page 87.
Look at the
calendar for this week.
Eliza, invite Lu Qing to go to the mall.
Now let’s look at the dialogue. I’ll ask two students to read it to the
class.
OK. You can use the dialogue in the book to get started. Then ask
more questions to learn when both people can go to the mall. Find a time
when both people are not busy.
Help students to start their work. As students ask and answer, move
around
offering any help as needed.
Then ask pairs of students to present their conversation to the class.
Discuss the answer with the whole class.
Step 6 Summary

learnt how to write an
