31 July 2009 was the first day of the 34th Bardentreffen (Singer and Songwriter Festival) in
Nürnberg. Barden refers to the German singers and songwriters in old times who travelled with their musical instruments and performed music everywhere. Nowadays it has already become a great festival for musical bands all over the world gathering together. The festival will last 3 days. As early as 7 p.m., the streets were already jammed with people. These bustling and rustling scenes were not often seen in Germany. People all came to enjoy dozens of musical bands from all over the world. At the time, Nürnberg became a city of music. There were music performances everywhere in the old city. The most appealing thing was that all the concerts were free.
A few big stages were set up in the old city. Two shows would be given on each stage every night during the festival. The first show tonight was definitely a must-seen event. I watched two completely different shows in a roll given by Masques from Nürnberg and Ma Valise from France respectively. Suddenly, I felt that it was so correct to call music the most popular language in the world since I could not understand French at all, but I still could feel the charm of the melody which was fused with the styles of Balkan, Africa and punk.
When you took a look at the people around the stage, you would find that all of them were dancing with the music. At this moment, everybody was so engrossed. Nobody cared other people's look and just wanted to relax and dance with the music. Many people brought kids to attend the music festival. A cute boy was too little to talk, but he knew how to move with rhythm. Even grey-haired old men could not resist the temptation and moved their bodies.
Apart from the big shows invited and organized by the official festival committee, spontaneous performances could also be seen everywhere on the street.
