书籍是人类进步的阶梯，从小我就和书结下了深厚的友谊。
        我已经读过几百多本书了，我的家里到处都是书，床上、客厅里、书房里，甚至连厕所里都放着书。妈妈给我买了两个书橱，摆放着我的几百本藏书，有科幻类、历史类、童话类、文学类。我最喜欢科幻小说，也喜欢看历史故事，像《史记》、《三国演义》、《水浒传》、《杨家将》、《岳飞传》、《西游记》等，我都看过不止一遍了。
        一天中午，姥姥说，妈妈、大姨她们都姓马，只有我姓李，说我是外来户，让我改姓马。我说："马是被人骑的，我才不姓马呢，我还是姓李好，历史上有许多姓李的名人，像李世民、李冰、李白、李隆基、李煜。"姥姥说："你这个小家伙，懂得倒不少。"我自豪地笑了。
        我看起书来，非常入迷，就好像进入了书中的世界，跟着书中的人物时而哈哈大笑，时而伤心难过。我每天中午、晚上睡觉前都必须看书，不然就很难入睡。有一次，晚上十点多了，我叫妈妈去睡觉，  妈妈答应了，说："我去刷牙。"趁这个功夫，我赶紧拿出刚才没读完的书接着读起来，一会儿妈妈听不见我的动静了，问："李延泽，你是不是又去看书了？""是啊。"我答应了一声赶快走出来，妈妈说："你还叫我睡觉呢，你自己还不快点睡。"
        前苏联火箭和卫星专家科洛廖夫说过："人离开了书，如同离开空气一样不能生活。"我就是这样，一天不读书，就会非常烦躁。书，将永远是我形影不离的好朋友。
 
The book is the ladder of progress for mankind. I began to make friends with books since I was little.
I have read hundreds of books. In my home, there are books everywhere, on beds, in the living room, in the study, and even in the toilet. My mother bought me two book shelves, where I store my hundreds of books. They are about science, history, fairy tales,  literature and so on. My favorite ones are science fictions. I also like to read books about history, such as Historical Records, Romance of Three Kingdoms, Heroes of the Marshes, Generals of the Yang Family, Legend of Yue Fei, and Journey to the West. I read them all more than once.
One day at noon, my grandmother told me that my mother and my aunts all had the family name "Ma", but my family name was "Li". She said I was an outsider and I should change my family name into "Ma". I then replied, "'Ma' means horse, which is for people to ride. I don't want have 'Ma' as my family name. I want to have 'Li' as my family name, because there were many famous people in history with the family name 'Li', such as Li Shimin（an emperor in Tang Dynasty）, Li Bing（a Chinese administrator and engineer of the Warring States period）, Li Bai(a famous poet in Tang Dynasty), Li Longji (an emperor in Tang Dynasty), and Li Yu (the last emperor of Southern Tang Dynasty during the 10th century)." My grandmother was surprised, "You little boy knows really a lot." I smiled proudly.
I feel so fascinated when I am reading, as if I were entering the world of the book. I laugh with the figures in the books, and also cry with them. I have to read before napping at noon, and sleeping at night, or I can not fall asleep One day, it was 10 p.m. I asked my mother to go to bed. My mother agreed and said, "I will go to brush my teeth." When she was brushing her teeth, I used the time to continue my reading. After a while, my mother did not hear any moves from me, and then she asked, "Li Yanze, are you back to reading again?"  "Yes." I said and walked out. My mother said, "You asked me to go to bed. You yourself should go to bed now."
Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, an expert on rocket and satellites in the Soviet Union once said, "People cannot live without books, just as they could not live without air." I am like that. If I don't read for one day, I will become very fidgety. Books are and will be my best companionwherever I go.
