刻舟求剑

有一个楚国人要坐船过一条江，他的剑从船上掉进了水里。他急忙用刀在船舷上刻了一个记号，说："这儿是我的剑掉下去的地方。"船停下以后，这个人从他所刻记号的地方下水去找剑。别人看到了，对他说："船已经向前行驶了很远，而剑却不会和船一起前进，像这样去找剑，不是很糊涂吗?"
Once upon a time, a man from the state of Chu was going to cross a river. In the boat, his sword fell into the water. He then immediately took out his knife and made a mark on the side of the boat where his sword fell off. When the boat arrived, he jumped into the water from the place indicated by his mark to find the sword. People said to him: "The boat is moving but your sword would not go with the boat. Isn't it foolish to look for your sword this way?"
