铁杵成针

       唐朝著名的诗人李白（701年—762年）在小的时候读书并不用功，有一天，他想放弃学业，就偷偷地离开了学校。在路上，他看见一个老婆婆在石头上磨一根很粗的铁杵。李白觉得很奇怪，就问老婆婆："您磨铁杵做什么呢？"老婆婆说："我要把它磨成绣花针"。李白大笑："这么粗的铁杵怎么可能磨成那么细的绣花针呢？"老婆婆说："只要我天天磨，坚持下去，总有一天会成功的。"李白听了以后很受启发，决心以后要努力读书。于是他返回学校继续学习，后来成了著名的大诗人。

The famous poet Li Bai (701-762) in Tang Dynasty did not study hard as a child. One day he decided to quit studying, so he secretly left the school. On the way he saw an old woman grinding a thick iron rod on a stone. Li Bai thought this was very strange, so he asked the old woman: "Why are you grinding the metal rod?" The old woman said:" I want to turn it into an embroidery needle." Li Bai laughed loudly:" How could such a thick rod be sharpened into a delicate embroidery needle?" The old woman responded:" I just have to rub it every day, and keep at it. Then one day I will be successful." When Li Bai heard this he was very inspired. He decided to work hard on his studies from that moment on. So he turned back and headed to school to continue his studies. Finally he became a very famous poet in the history.
