TAKE your time and enjoy the year's last "Golden Week." Almost all city districts and Chongming County will hold events and activities during the seven-day National Day holiday that starts tomorrow.
Gorgeous night landscape will light up the city every night from 6:30pm. The banks of the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek, the World Expo site, People's Square and Lujiazui area will be among the best sites to watch the night landscape, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Administrative Bureau.
During the day, people can enjoy different cultural events in downtown. Several districts, such as Xuhui and Luwan, will invite people to appreciate the traditional Shanghai "lane culture." Hengshan Road and Huaihai Road M. will be the main venue for the events.
Nature lovers can go to the suburbs to enjoy luscious fruits and dainty flowers. Several parks and botanical gardens, such as the Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang and the Binjiang Forest Park in Pudong, will hold festivals.
However, rain is forecast for the beginning and end of the holiday.
According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, there will be showers on Friday and Saturday, and on October 6-7. Sunny or cloudy skies are expected for the other days.
The weather will be cool, with maximum temperatures of 23-24 degrees Celsius. The low temperature will vary, with mercury falling to 14 degrees on October 5 morning.
TRAFFIC
Passengers are not allowed in and out of the Nanjing Road E. Station of Metro Line 2 and Line 10 from yesterday to October 3 as the station will be closed from 4pm.
Traffic restrictions will be in force in parts of downtown, the Bund and Lujiazui.
LIGHTING
The city's scenic lighting will be on from today to October 7 along the Huangpu River and the Expo site and its surrounding areas between 6:30pm to 11:30pm.
EVENTS
Shanghai Shopping Festival
More than 50 department stores and 20 hypermarkets will take part in the event. Customers will enjoy discounts and coupons.
Hairy Crab and Lake Food Festival
Chongming Island is also a good place to enjoy crab.

BANKING
Most local banks will shorten their business hours during the holidays. Inter-bank and corporate services will be suspended. Most banks in shopping areas will be open every day.
POST
The 500-plus post offices across the city will be open during the National Day holiday. But the business time for the first three days will be shortened, running from 9am to 5pm.
HOSPITAL
The outpatient services at local hospitals won't be available during the holiday, while emergency services will function all day and night. The Shanghai Health Bureau also stressed that it has prepared abundant staff and medication for the large number of Expo visitors.
