Foreign media praise China´s relief efforts
Foreign media have been paying close attention to the latest
earthquake developments. Many of them have praised the
prompt relief efforts of the Chinese government following the disaster.
British newspaper The Times published an article which spoke highly of the
prompt reactions Chinese leaders took after the quake struck Sichuan. It says Premier Wen Jiabao wasted no time in flying to the quake-stricken areas to direct rescue efforts, and China's state media has been reporting round-the-clock coverage of the latest developments.
China's state Xinhua News Agency is also providing continuous updates about the death toll and relief work.
In the United States, the Christian Science Monitor published an article praising China's fast reactions in quake-hit areas. It says China has established an
efficient and effective disaster-response
mechanism which clearly lays out the responsibilities of the government.
Major media outlets in New Zealand have also been reporting the latest developments of the quake aftermath intensively. Channel Three has
devoted much of its broadcasts to footage of the disaster regions, and spoke highly of the relief efforts of the Chinese government.
