Procedures
Step one: Lead-in
1. Daily greetings.
2. Daily reports.
Step two: Warming up
1. Get the students to talk about our own country by asking them questions.
e.g.: What’s the population of China?
2. Show the class the map of China and have them talk about it in groups of four . Ask one student from each group to report what useful phrases his group have used in their talk.
Step three: Listening
1. Play the tape for one time. Ask the students to complete the map with information from the tape.
2. Play the tape again and choose the answers to complete the sentences.
Step four: Speaking (
output )
1. Get the students to list, in groups of four, the useful
sentence patterns used to talk about directions and locations.
2. Get the students to read the
sample dialogue so as to get ready for the dialogue production.
3. Work in pairs. Talk about the birthplaces of your grandparents, parents and yourself.
4. Encourage the students to act it out in front of the class.
