Step 1. Revision. Revise the infinitive
Step 2. Presentation
Say look at the title of this unit: "Merry Christmas!" Do you know what "Christmas " mean? Find out what the students know about Christmas and how people celebrate Christmas. And then provide some background knowledge. Mention December 25th, Father Christmas 1 Santa Claus, Christmas trees, Christmas cards,Christmas presents and Christmas dinner. Tell the students that they will learn something about Christmas in this unit.
Step 3. Listen, read and act
SB Page 36 Part 1, Speech Cassette lesson 29, Books closed, Ask the students "Why does the house smell so nice? " Play the tape for them to find the answer ( Because of the Christmas tree), Books open, Play the tape again for the students to listen and repeat, Get the students to guess the meaning of the new words merry, decorate, put up, angel and circle. Then get the students to practise the dialogue in pairs, Ask some pairs to act out the dialogue, See who can do it without books.
Step 4 . Ask and answer
SB Page 36. part 2. Do the first one as an example, then let the students work out the answers in pairs . Then they practise asking and answering . Now get one student to ask another student one of the questions. The second student must answer without looking at the book. Repeat with other students.
Step 5. Sum up
Sum up the main points , especially the new words .
