Introduction and Speaking
Teaching Aims:
1)Give the Ss some
impression of different films.
2) Enlarge the Ss’
vocabulary about the film.
3) Train students
speaking ability.
Teaching Important Points:
1) Broaden the Ss’ horizons of films.
2) Encourage Ss to talk about films and famous actors and directors.
Teaching Difficult Points:
1)Make sure that every student has a chance to express himself/herself freely.
2)Improve students’
speaking ability.
Teaching Method:
1)Individual, pair or group work to make every student work in class.
2)Guessing games to make students involved in the topics.

Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Greeting
Step 2 Lead-in
T: Do you like going to the cinema or watching TV at home?
Ss: I like going to the cinema with my friends. It’s more interesting than watching TV at home
T: Can you tell us some famous directors and film stars in China?
Ss: Certainly. Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige,Feng Xiaogang and Ang Lee are famous directors.
Famous actors and actresses such as Chou Yun-Fat, Jacky Chen, Zhou Xingchi, Li Lianjie, Yang Ziqiong and Gong Li.
T: Do you know some famous films at home and abroad? (Show some films)
Ss: Farewell My Concubine; Hero; Home Alone; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Jaws.
T: Have you seen the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.(show the poster)
Ss: Yes
T: Who directed it?
Ss: By Chris Columbus
T: Who stars in it?
Ss: Daniel Radcliffe , Emma Waison and Ruperf Grint
T: When did it come out?
Ss: in 2001.
At the same time. The teacher explain the meaning of direct (导演), star(主演)come out(出版,发行) and movie(电影)
Step 3 Finish activity 2.
Student A: Think of a film but don’t say its name.
Student B: Ask student A question about the film, as in activity 1 .
One example:
Student A: There are some pictures of a movie in my mind.
Student B: Who directed it ?
Student A: Zhang Yimou
Student B: Who stars in it?
Student A: Li Lianjie; Liang Chaohui; Zhang Manyu; Chen Daoming; Zhang Ziyi; Zhen Zidan
Student B: When did it come out?
Student A: In 2002.
Student B: I guess it Hero
Student A: That’s it.
Then student B let student A guess the name of the film.
Step 4 Finish activity 3
The teacher’s words: Boys and girls, how many types of films do you know? Now we can have a look at the following pictures, and do you know which type of film does each picture belong to ? Have you seen these films? Please look at the
screen and match the types of films in the box A with one of the words in box B. Explain your reasons for matching them. For example, Romantic film/fall in love: Romantic films are about two people who fall in love with each other. Suggested answers:
Thrillers/crime, gun, fight, exciting Thrillers are always full of fighting and crimes
and exciting scenes using their guns.
Martial arts film(功夫片)/sword, exciting, fight: Martial films use swords
frequently when they fought. The scene is often exciting.
Comedy/amusing: Comedies are always amusing
Adventure film/exciting, gun, crime, exciting, fight, and sword: They can use
swords and guns as necessary as possible . Adventure films are often filled with
exciting fights..
Then the teacher may show some posters of some films and
classify them into different types of films.
Step 5 Do with
speaking on page 54.
The teacher’s words: Boys and girls, my favorite are comedies. Because comedies are fun and amusing. They always make me feel easy and laugh happily. What about you? What are your favorite films? And why? Please wok in pairs. Answer these questions.
