一个民族有一个民族的语言。在了解英美语言的区别及变化的同时,教师也应告诉同学们汉语也是很美丽的语言。从它的字体形状就能体现出中国人民不屈不挠的性格和堂堂正正做人的气魄。

【教学步骤】
THE FIRST PERIOD
I. TEACHING AIMS
1. To learn some useful sentences and some new words and expressions.
2. To develop the Ss's skills in listening, speaking,
reading and writing.
II. TEACHING STEPS
Step 1 Make clear the aims and demands of this period
Tell the Ss that we are going to learn the dialogue. In this dialogue there are some new words and expressions for ns to learn.
Step 2 Word competition
The purpose is to
practise the following sentences.
“How do you spell…?”
“How do you pronounce/read….?”
Do like this:
Divide the Whole class into several groups. Invite a student to the front of the classroom. Present some cards (All these cards should be prepared ahead of time.)——cards with the English words on one fide and characters on the other.
Hold up one of them first with characters on it and ask:
“What' s the English for…”
“How do you spell this word?”
Then hold it up again with the English words on it and ask, "How do you pronounce this word? "or
“What does it mean?”
The group who gets the highest scores takes the first place.
Step 3 Ltarn the dialogue
T: Today Yang Mei is going to meet her tearher, Sara. Sara is an American. She speaks English with an American accent. Please listen to the conversation.
1. Listen to the tape with some questions.
1) Who/whom is Yang Mei going to meet?
(She is going to meet her new teacher. )
2) What naitionality is her new teacher?
(She is an American. )
3) What difficulty does Yang Mei have in
learning English?
(She has some difficulty in pronouncing some of the words in English.)
2. After listening to the conversation, ask some students to answer these questions.
Step 4 Listen and repeat
Tell the Ss to pay more attention to the
pronunciation and intonation of the sentences in the conversation.
