Europe's law-enforcement
agency Monday said it suspects over 680 soccer matches played around the world have been fixed by
criminal networks, many organized through a Singapore-based crime cartel, following a
widespread probe into
illegal betting activity.
Europol, the organization coordinating the work of police forces across Europe, said the
behavior implicated hundreds of players, referees and officials across a roster of 380
affected games across the Continent that included qualifiers for the sport's two biggest
international tournaments
