　　T: I think all of you have friends, don’t you?
　　S: Yes, we all have friends.
　　(Teacher walks to one student and asks)
　　T: Xiaojun, do you have any friends?
　　S: Yes, I do.
　　T: What do you do when a friend comes to visit you?
　　S: I usually ask him/her to take a seat/sit down first, and then maybe we’ll have a chat.
　　T: What will you do if someone else comes to tell you something when you’re chatting with your friend?
　　S: I’ll ask him/her to come in and sit down, too. If they don’t know each other, I’ll introduce them to each other. Maybe we can chat together.

　　T: Good. So you know how to be a host/hostess. Today we’re going to learn a dialogue which is about Mr Ball calling on Mrs Zhu. Let’s see how to be a visitor and how to be a hostess. First let’s learn the new words. Look at the screen. (Show the following and explain)
　　
　　T: Now, let’s listen to the tape to find out what happened in Mrs Zhu’s home and then answer two questions. Of course, you can discuss them after listening with your partner.
